A Small Stream High in the Backcountry, a Large River Down ValleyThe East River begins high in the Elk Mountains at Emerald Lake (elev. 10,700 ft.) and runs through epic scenery near Gothic, continuing on a meandering pace offering fishing opportunities with a backcountry flare. It picks up numerous small streams to become a large river offering a chance at large Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Kokanee Salmon. |
Part of this river has been set aside by the Colorado Division of Wildlife as Wild Trout Water.
